LearnTrends

The Corporate Learning Trends & Innovation Conference

Jay Cross

Should we host special online sessions for folks on other continents?

A few of you are balking at having to get up in the wee hours to participate live. Rather than suggest you move to California, permit me to offer an alternative. We're flexible here.

First of all, we're recording the sessions. You can watch them whenever it's convenient.

Since this leaves you out of the active give-and-take of a live session, would you like to participate in live discussion sessions after-the-fact if we offered them at convenient times for, say, Central Europe and Australia?

Leave a comment. If there's sufficient interest, we'll do it. Suggest what time would be best for you.

Considering the value of the discussions, the innovation coming from New Zealand in this area and what appears to be a large number of our Australian neighbours registered with the group - yes please....if you do I will do my best to bring more Kiwis onboard.

I live in Sydney and would have difficulties in attending the live session - so it will be after mid night for most of the live sessions. May be I could only listen to the recordings and discuss in the forums. Thank you so much for organising such a wonderful event. Cheers. John Mak

I too would love to see such a great event as this hosted in a time slot which would suit all. I might see how I go at getting up at 1am Perth time to attend the first session...here's hoping:) Cheers Angela

I think it would be great to have the recorded discussions, but have them chunked down into manageable pieces, and have a correspondent form the other side of the facilitate a discussion around those broken bits.

For example, some of the intros and banter from the actual session could be edited out, and re-created by the facilitators, allowing the audience to connect with facilitators. I imagine it may be a feat edit the content down, but if you get an equal sized team as to the original LearnTrends group, it may be possible. Just my thoughts.

I'm happy to add an additional discussion session on my topic - best day is Thursday after 4pm PST (GMT -8) for me, which would accomodate Aus and NZ at the least.

Fantastic. Nancy I attended a presentation you did for DET Hot Topics (breakfast) when you were in Perth a couple of years ago. I really enjoyed your live presentation and I have visited your website often since then. Thanks for offering an additional session, I hope it happens :)

Thanks. Great idea. Count me in. Are we talking about a set time - after we've listened to the recordings?

Folks, I'm one of the co-organizers (somewhat disorganized), and also an Aussie (besides a native Yank; naturalized during my 7 years living in Sydney). I'd be willing to host an elluminate session 4-5 PT for those Antipodeans and others who can't make the regular time. It'd be great if the vids are up beforehand (part of my disorganization was managing to drop in on the end of the presos, doh!). It'll be discussion, as we can't reproduce the actual presenters.

I organise/support the DEANZ (Distance Education Association of New Zealand www.deanz.org.nz) online sessions on Elluminate so if you need some help during NZ time frame I'm happy to help.
