I get asked this question so many times on ASTD message boards, since I've been through several large implementations. 99% of the time, the purchasing organization doesn't have a clear idea of what they truly need and end up getting dazzled by fe...

Many of us have a workforce filled with a mix of baby Boomers, Traditionalists and Generation X & Y and this means Training Departments need to tailor technology in training and delivery very carefully. Seeking input on how workers view your train...

I'm yet to find a company who are completely satisfied with their LMS yet £thousands have been spend on implementing, populating the solution very little was ever done in assessing what was needed. They seem a very expensive way to track the train...

Jodi Most clients do not know what LMS is best for their individual organisation. Hence most embark on a fishing expedition to evaluate vendors and invariably the big providers offer the convenience of the `brand name' - there used to be a saying...

I agree Jodi. It's interesting you bring this up. A very important client of mine does use a "Nasdaq Listed" Company's LMS product, pays an exorbitant price for the licensing and support BUT they also sulk! Their senior management have been workin...

I chuckled when CLO handed out awards for "Best LMS" at their Symposium last week. Most LMS functions are a legacy of industrial-age command and control. They track compliance, not innovation. A butts-in-seats counter makes no sense in Enterprise...

This title of a webinar hosted by CLO Magazine caught my attention and I thought I would throw it out to you for your opinions. I think both directions have great value, just different drivers and potential benefits. So, do you really need an Ente...

From my perspective, if it doesn't change behavior, it wasn't learning. Outcomes should be associated with any form of learning. eLearning involves more than creating content. Sometimes merely providing the environment for collaboration enables s...

Does eLearning need to have a ROI that’s more than just money?

The Adobe Captivate Blog earlier this month reported on a Higher Ed blog - http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/

“Around 70% of faculty believe that the learning outcomes of online learning are inferior to F2F.”

This got me thinking about business eLearning -

I have seen all sorts of content classified as eLearning and as an educator I have to ask –

Is it important to have learning outcomes associated with eLearning for it to be “Learning”?

Behavior changes, should we expect this to be a part o… Continue

Which got me thinking "Is non-verbal communication" all that important? Is the sound of a person voice or the smile on their face needed? Nielsen Mobile reported late last year that teenagers on average sent and received 2,272 texts per month. A year earlier the National School Boards Association estimated that middle and high school students devoted an average of 9 ho… Continue

Hi Jodi,
I work for QA in the UK a large learning services organisation; I was particularly interested in your social learning solutions, do you find a big take up on learners sharing information or is this still more for the gen Y employees? I see all the benefits but not sure businesses really are ready to invest in the UK
