I'm not sure in what capacity I can be of help, but I am more than willing to do whatever I can. And to upskill if this will help. I have not previously been involved in the behind-the-scenes aspect of Elluminate, but, if you're short-handed and the…

Two perspectives

The discussions in the chat panels of some sessions have brought to mind this post I wrote on my blog some time back. This topic regularly buzzes around in my head threatening to blow a gasket in my brain. It relates to my oft voiced protests against claims of a flat world. I have grave concerns that we are gathered together in our ivory towers, blithely dispensing 'wisdom' when in fact we represent such a… Continue

Molo, dagse, sawubona, tumelang!

I am so thrilled to see so many South Africans signed up for this conference. At every single one of these things I have whinged and b*tched about how little representation there is from developing countries and how we're getting an articifical picture of the status quo without their input. Of course, I'm not ignoring the delegates from other developing countries - it's just that, as an ex-pat, I tend to spot all the other 'Saffies' who sign up.

I know firsthand what the SA connection speeds ca… Continue

Hi Karyn,

Thanks for the tip about sending direct to someone. There are very few things I feel the need to do that with tho--I like to see everyone's thoughts on everything in the backchat and would not like to see fragmented private conversations spinning off--just my personal philosophy of backchat--as a free-for all that ends up being useful partly because it's unfiltered.

Well, your independence and engagement (which breathe intelligence!) is what I so utterly liked about your comments. Thanks for connecting!

Karyn, in case you didn't find out from anyone else, the session you really wanted to attend actually will probably be rescheduled as there were technical difficulties and Jane was stuck in traffic so she missed it. You probably will get more out of it going to the discussion area and there was talk of trying it again at a latter time and date.

Thanks Karyn. I finally got sorted out, it was my institutional firewall, I got technical help. I listened to the recorded sessions and today I am ready to catch a session or two live.

Hi Karen,
Yes...it's nice to recognize familiar faces and this is how our network grows. Although I advertised the event well beforehand, it just slipped my mind (spent a glorious weekend in the countryside) and I missed yesterday sessions. I hope I can find the recordings somewhere so I have something to discuss with the others :-)
Warm regards from Brazil,
Bee
