Tony Karrer has organized an event on May 21st from 9-noon US Pacific Time.
One of the hardest things to find are real-life examples of different kinds of eLearning solutions. On May 21, Learn Trends will be hosting a free online event where the pe…
Hi Matete
Don't worry - I know how time flies and it's scary! No unfortunately I'm not in SA - I've just moved to the UK, where I've taken up a position at the University of Leicester. I'm still working with SAIDE at a distance though... What organisation are you with? Do you have a website? (Sorry if I've missed this info somewhere in the forum - I haven't figured out where everything is yet!)

Hi Matete, I clicked on your name because I thought you must be South African... Glad to see I'm not the only one! Oh and there's Karyn too :-)
I'm working with SAIDE (SA Institute for Distance Education) on a web-based resource for supporting learners in distance learning and online learning. I'd be interested to know how you're using technology in large classes - maybe there are some transferable tips I could learn from you?

The organization I work for (Jhpiego) is an international health non-profit that is affiliated with Johns Hopkins University. We have active projects in about 50 countries, exclusively in limited-resource settings. We work primarily in three broad technical areas - maternal & child health, family planning & reproductive health and HIV/AIDS - but also have projects in cervical cancer, malaria, TB, etc.
In ZA, I'm involved in a project called ART2Scale. It's aimed at strengthening nursing education and more specifically at preparing nurses to provide and manage anti-retroviral therapy (ART). For my part, I'll be providing support for the development of electronic learning materials and a collaborative space for the sharing and development of related resources.
And what about you? What are you currently involved in?
Hi Matete, sorry I did not show up for most of the sessions due to some commitments. I wont be attending HESS/HELTASA conference next month due to financial constraints.

Hi Matete,
Sorry you had problems. I also struggled at first and had the same issues. I think it may have been because I tried to login before the correct time. I just keptm trying and finally got in. Finally worked out that 8.00am Pacific is 6.00pm SA ! Hope you get on this evening. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Matete
I saw your comment on Matshidisho's page. Have you managed to connect, yet? What sort of problems are you having? If you have access to Skype, perhaps I can talk you through the process of logging on. I am just so excited about having so many South Africans on this conference, I would hate to see you missing out on the live sessions!

Not sure if you are on line tonight. I have just managed to log in through Elluminate. How is it with you?
