That's fine for me too as my semester ends Dec. 8. I'm currently writing my dissertation, using the group workplace collaborative writing process to look at knowledge creation within groups. It would be nice to connect with someone who also seems to be doing work on group processes as no one on my dissertation committee has that experience (although they are interested in the research and different aspects of it such as knowledge creation, business communication, qualitative research, and writing as a means of knowledge creation).
Nancy, I used to live on E Sola, back in the day. Our introNetworks offices are in Montecito (Lower Village) and we were on evac warning as well. Lost power that night, but servers were ok. Smell is still around though. From the harbor you can see up Sycamore Canyon and see how far up the mountain it burned. It was a scary night for all. I was on the flight home from DevLearn when it started, but the time I arrived at SBA you could see the fire had grown immensely - in just 90 minutes. It was a true Firestorm
Nancy, I could not comment on the comment wall either - no button anywhere. I think that the next day is really the time for the conversation to happen. I think that there are distinct points of view here that are differing. And it might take at least a few hours for us all to confab and figure that out. I suggest that we go as is - and then take notes, so we have fodder for the next day. We are all Type A folks and will have lots of questions for each other. This may in fact be a very excellent thing, as those questions may echo what the audience is thinking.
Of course, I might be completely wrong.

Sorry I'm coming to this so late. Been a bit busy. I reached out to Mark via Facebook as well. I'm dwilkinsnh on Skype if you get free before me. It seems like tomorrow is just us presenting separately which might make some sense. And then Thurs, it's a discussion. I didn't see an event for this on the site, so I set one up.
I couldn't figure out how to leave a comment on the event. Which is pretty scary given my role, but hey I blame the software. So in answer to your question regarding models for social learning -- I blogged about this a bit ago: http://www.mzinga.com/en/Community/Blogs/Dave-Wilkins/Social-Learning-Models/ That should give you some sense of where my head is at on this stuff.
Do you want to try to connect this evening to talk through the presentation?
I read that users are having problems with Elluminate during the conference. While I would anticipate that the Java plug-in might cause difficulties, and the recording functionality does not permit multiple recordings off a single room - otherwise my experiences have been overwhelmingly positive.
However, I also recognize that my primary lens for assessing virtual classrooms is whether it connects and works well in Afghanistan, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mongolia, Pakistan, South Africa, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe - all places which will be logging in for our training tomorrow. From the vantage point of looking through this lens - Elluminate rocks.
Hi - So happy to have you as my "friend". I have been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to actively engage in NING. FYI - one of the NPOKI agencies has coopted NING into their website and made it the "network" for their organizations.
Any suggestion on how to find the url for your session?
